Treating
Osteoarthritis of the Knee |
|
These photos illustrate the points used in a study of osteoarthritis
of the knee. 570 patients participated in the largest and longest
randomized controlled clinical study of acupuncture ever conducted.
The group of patients receiving acupuncture had a 40% reduction
in knee pain and a nearly 40% improvement in knee functioning.
The two control groups, one receiving sham acupuncture (no needle
insertion) and the other receiving a knee osteoarthritis education
course, had significantly less improvement.
